Kathryne Fassbender

Kathryne (Kate) Fassbender is the creator of the Dementia Letters Project and the granddaughter of someone who lived with Vascular Dementia. Playing a range of roles, she walks with those on their dementia journey, magnifying the importance of creativity and human connection. Digging into her ArtBin as a classically trained musician, studio artist, theatre-maker, and using her academic foundation in the Creative Arts Therapies, Kate serves others on the pillars of Education, Life Enrichment, and Support. With 20 years of living in service to those with dementia, she has experienced both sides of the dementia coin, learning what it means to be both a family and a professional care partner. This experience has impacted the way she becomes relational with others in both a creative and dignified way Kate is a Certified Dementia Communications Specialist, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Certified Dementia Care Professional, Purple Angel Ambassador, and Certified TimeSlips Facilitator trained in building Creative Communities of Care. She is a dementia educator, speaker, Life Enrichment coach, and creative engagement specialist.
